Heil, Georg, 192 (1784-1863)
Biography
Georg Heil was born to Nicolaus Heil and Elisabetha Stromer in Schriesheim, Baden, and was baptized on 18 Aug 1784. He married Katharina Kogler in Schriesheim on 4 Oct 1808. They immigrated to Russia in 1809, arriving in the Russian border town of Grodno on 29 Jul 1809 with Katharina, his eldest daughter Susanna, and his wife's parents and siblings. He was Catholic, but his wife's family was Calvinist, so they settled in the town of Rohrbach (Novosvitlivka), where he had most of his children. He appears in the 1816 and 1858 census of Rohrbach, as well as in the Catholic marriage and baptismal records of his children in the neighboring Catholic village of Rastadt (Porichchya).
Sometime between the 1858 census and his death in 1863 he relocated to Rastadt, where he was likely living in the household of one of his adult children there.
The Catholic, Russian-language death record from Rastadt (Porichchya) states that he died 22 Jan 1832 from old age in Rastadt. He is listed as a widower, age 84. It also states that he left 5 living children and was buried in the Rastadt cemetery.
